The exhibition, in the long sleeve of the eighteenth-century spinning mill inside the Maurizio Sella Wool Mill in Biella, opens with a large low table on which a plan of the city of Biella is stamped, with 80 red tokens each corresponding to a project by Federico Maggia (1901-2003, architect and engineer to whom the award is dedicated) whose archive sequences are shown. This is followed by ten stations – each with a central window overlooking the neighbouring stream, corresponding to the presentation area of the work of each of the 10 finalists – interrupted by a walkway jutting out over the stream with a metal structure and wooden cladding, providing an unexpected view of the riverbed. The installation is closed by a raised wooden plate that closes the sleeve and creates a rest area.
L’esposizione, nella lunga manica del settecentesco filatoio all’interno del Lanificio Maurizio Sella, a Biella, si apre con un grande tavolo basso su cui è impressa una planimetria della città di Biella su cui insistono 80 pedine rosse corrispondenti, ciascuna, a un progetto di Federico Maggia (1901-2003, architetto e ingegnere a cui il premio è dedicato) di cui sono riportate le sequenze di archivio con cui i progetti sono stati catalogati. Seguono dieci postazioni – ciascuna con una finestra centrale che affaccia al torrente limitrofo, corrispondente all’area di presentazione del proprio lavoro di ciascuno dei 10 finalisti – interrotte da una passerella in aggetto sul torrente con struttura metallica e rivestimento ligneo, che permette di apprezzare una visuale inattesa sull’alveo. Chiude l’allestimento una piastra lignea rialzata che chiude la manica e crea una zona di sosta.
