Swiss Talks is a series of meetings dedicated to the orientations of contemporary architecture in Switzerland, from 2023 curated by Francesca Chiorino
Three evenings in the course of 2023 are dedicated to the intersections between architecture and art, from the Alpine valleys historically and geographically connected to Italy, such as Engadine and Bergell, an imaginary descent will tend to the Venice lagoon, in conjunction with the Biennale. How does an art museum age? How can a large art collection be spatially enhanced? What does it mean to design an atelier to house an artist’s work?
Thirty years after the completion of the Kirchner Museum in Davos, Annette Gigon, partner of the renowned Gigon-Guyer studio, talks with the art curator and current museum director Katharina Beisiegel, moderated by Evelyn Steiner.
The numerous museums designed by the Gigon-Guyer studio since the Kirchner’s inception provide an opportunity to ask what the reciprocal competences are and how the work of architects and architects can enrich that of curators and curators and vice versa, as well as to initiate a discussion on where the two disciplines’ boundaries lie.

Tre serate nel corso del 2023 sono dedicate alle intersezioni tra architettura e arte, dalle valli alpine storicamente e geograficamente connesse all’Italia, quali Engadina e Val Bregaglia, una discesa immaginaria tenderà alla laguna di Venezia, in concomitanza con la Biennale. Come invecchia un museo d’arte? Come valorizzare spazialmente una grande collezione artistica? Cosa significa progettare un atelier che accolga il lavoro di un artista?
A 30 anni dal compimento del Kirchner Museum di Davos, Annette Gigon, partner del noto studio Gigon-Guyer, dialoga con la curatrice artistica e attuale direttrice del museo, Katharina Beisiegel, con la moderazione di Evelyn Steiner.
I numerosi musei progettati dallo studio Gigon-Guyer dopo l’esordio del Kirchner rappresentano gli spunti per domandarsi quali sono le reciproche competenze e come il lavoro delle architette e degli architetti può arricchire quello delle curatrici e dei curatori e viceversa, così come per avviare un confronto su quali sono i terreni di confine delle due discipline.
